VENICE 2 with RIALTO Mini and FX3 Give “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” New Perspective
By: SonyCine Team
The most recent iteration of Peter Parker and his web crawling alter ego has had adventures in four solo movies and appearances in three other MCU films, making him a staple of Marvel’s cinematic canon. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the most recent addition to Parker’s escapades, has garnered more that $2.5 billion at the global box office.
To help Spider-Man: Brand New Day stand out and achieve a new POV for the titular character, director Destin Daniel Cretton (Wonder Man, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and DP Brett Pawlak (Just Mercy, Wonder Man, Short Term 12) looked to the Sony FX3 and VENICE 2 with the VENICE Extension System Mini, which is also known as the RIALTO Mini. These two additions to an already robust toolkit gave the duo unique rigging solutions that put the viewer’s POV behind Peter Parker’s eyes and into actor Tom Holland’s hands.
Seeing What Spider-Man Sees
While the film was shot on other camera systems, the need to get up close and personal with Spider-Man required a camera that could fit into small spaces and be small enough to rig to an actor.
The VENICE 2 and the RIALTO Mini was utilized for those moments where audiences needed to be mere centimeters from Peter Parker’s eyes, while the FX3 dropped them right into the middle of the action.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiered in theaters on July 31, 2026 and can still be seen on the big screen as well on demand. To Learn more about the FX3, VENICE 2, and the RIALTO Mini, visit our Camera Comparison Chart.
