The 2026 Emmy Awards are in full swing, and the 78th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards were presented on September 5 and 6, 2026, at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. Over 100 Creative Arts Emmy categories were presented, and on September 14, 2026, the awards will conclude with the 78th Primetime Emmy Award.

Sony congratulates all of the nominees, as well as the winners in this year's Creative Arts categories!

From these Creative Arts Categories, a total of nine projects were shot with cameras from the Sony Cinema Line, including narrative television, commercials, documentaries, and live performances.

The 2026 Emmy Awards Winners

Of the 101 Creative Arts categories presented, four projects shot on Sony took home a myriad of awards.

For Spider-Noir, DP Darran Tiernan, ISC, received an award for his work on "Step Into My Office", the pilot episode for the series. Captured on the Sony VENICE 2 using Canon Rangefinder lenses, Canon K-35s, and lenses from IronGlass, Tiernan shot the series to be finished in both black and white and color. To keep the image unified across all departments, a Sony FX3 and daylight/tungsten lighting kit was provided to the art department, wardrobe, and hair-and-makeup, where they could test their looks using both the color and black and white LUTs.

The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny received an award for the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category, as well as an award for the following categories:

  • Outstanding Directing For A Variety Special
  • Outstanding Choreography For Variety Or Reality Programming
  • Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork For A Special
  • Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction For A Special
  • Outstanding Music Direction
  • Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Variety Series Or Special
  • Outstanding Choreography For Variety Or Reality Programming

Staged once again by Funicular Goats, the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show was captured live with 15 Sony cameras, including 11 Sony VENICE 2s, three Sony BRUANOs, and one Sony FR7.

DPs Siggi Rosen-Rawlings and Matt Wright, along with the 15-person camera department behind the reality series The Traitors, took home the award for Outstanding Cinematography For A Reality Program. This series was shot in part on the FX9.

And finally, My Mom Jayne, Mariska Hargitay's documentary about her mother, Jayne Mansfield, took home the awards for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special and Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program. Also shot on the FX9 by Tony Hardmon, the series leaned on Cooke Panchro/i and Classic full-frame primes, as well as Angénieux EZ-1 zooms.

Celebrating the 2026 Emmy Awards Nominees

In addition to the above, six more projects were nominated across the cinematography categories, celebrating their creative exploration of narrative work and real life.

After winning the ASC Award for Limited or Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, Peter Konczal, ASC, was once again nominated for his work on Black Rabbit. Shot on the Sony VENICE 2 in collaboration with DP Igor Martinovic, the duo utilized Leica R and Leitz HUGO primes with heavy filtration to create a moody version of New York City.

Directed by Oscar Hudson and shot by Ben Fordesman, the "Your Way Out" commercial for Coinbase was nominated for Outstanding Commercial. Captured with the Sony VENICE 2 and the RIALTO 2, Fordesman and Hudson created a PlayStation 2-era pixelated art style by hand.
