Introducing the Sony DP5 and DP7: New Camera Control and Monitoring for the Cinema Line

The Sony Cinema Line provides a unified image across ten different cameras that fit any use case a filmmaker or creator may need. From the FX30 to the Sony VENICE 2, this robust ecosystem supports creatives from small-scale productions all the way to professional sets.
To continue this support, Sony is launching the RM-DP5 and RM-DP7, two Remote Control Units that also function as a monitoring solution for the FX5, FX3, FX2, and FX30 cameras.

The New Sony RM-DP5 and RM-DP7
Combining a remote camera control system with a color-accurate monitoring solution, the RM-DP5 and RM-DP7 combine a highly rigid aluminum body with dust and moisture resistance that make it a perfect solution for outdoor production environments.
Both models support multiple power supply options, including via BP-U series batteries and USB Power Delivery (PD), that let them thrive in a studio setting or allow for long-duration shoots on location. The RM-DP7 also supports power delivery via DC input.
Planned to be available in January 2027, the RM-DP5 and RM-DP7 will initially support the FX5, FX3, FX2, and FX30 cameras, with support for the FX6 and BURANO to be added in a future firmware update in the second half of 2027.
A Color Accurate Monitor
To deliver reliable color accuracy in the field, the RM-DP5, a 5-inch monitor, and the RM-DP7, a 7-inch monitor, use Sony’s professional video monitor-grade color calibration technology. Each unit is individually calibrated at the factory and also continuously compensates for chromaticity and color temperature drift during operation.
A high-brightness Full HD panel with up to 2,000 cd/m² brightness, with support for six presets and up to 16 LUTs in either 17- or 33-grid .cube files, enables users to view an image as close as possible to the intended final look.
Wired and Wireless Camera Control
Both controllers allow users to adjust focus when used with compatible autofocus lenses, zoom when used with compatible power zoom lenses, and exposure and other key settings from the monitor side even when away from the camera.
This can be done either through a wired connection or wirelessly via a Hollyland Pyro Ultra or a Teradek Bolt 7, allowing flexibility for camera placement and rig configuration. In addition, the DP7 supports 12G-SDI connection and bidirectional conversion between SDI and HDMI connections.
In addition to the BIG6 home screen menu, touch operation, the control knob, multi-function dials, and assignable buttons provide quick access to frequently used functions on set, supporting fast, intuitive adjustments in compact shooting setups. This enables quick adjustments during shooting and helps create an environment where operators can focus more easily on composition and direction, even with limited crew members.
