The 2026 ASC Awards Nominees Reveal The Creative Power of Sony

By: SonyCine Team

The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) has unveiled the nominees for its 40th Annual Outstanding Achievement Awards. These awards recognize creative excellence among cinematographers whose work spans across feature films, documentaries, television, and music videos. Congratulations to all the incredible creatives nominated this year.

For 2026, a total of 32 projects have been nominated across seven categories, with more than half a dozen shot on cameras from the Sony Cinema Line.

Limited or Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television Category

Of the five projects nominated for this category, Black Rabbit is the only project nominated twice. Both Igor Martinović and Pete Konczal, who partnered to shoot the eight-episode series with the Sony VENICE 2, have been nominated for the unique visual language they crafted for the show.

  • Pete Konczal, ASC for Black Rabbit (“Isle of Joy”)
  • Igor Martinović for Black Rabbit (“Attaf**kinboy”)

To read more about how Martinović and Konczal crafted the look for Black Rabbit, dive into our recent interview with the two cinematographers to get a peek behind the look.

Episode of a One-Hour Regular Series Category

Three of the five projects in the One-Hour Regular Series category were also shot on the Sony VENICE 2.

  • Jessica Lee Gagne for Severance (“Hello, Ms. Cobel”)
  • Ben Kutchins, ASC for The White Lotus (“Killer Instincts”)
  • Christophe Nuyens, SBC for Andor (“I Have Friends Everywhere”)

Jessica Lee Gagne and Ben Kutchins both sat down with Sony Cine to share their creative workflow for their respective projects, while Christophe Nuyens joined us for a deep dive into how he built the creative look for Andor.

The ASC Music Video Award Category

Finally, two incredible cinematographers have also been nominated for the ASC Music Video Award. Rodrigo Prieto crafted a complex look to capture the vivid colors of Taylor Swift’s The Fate of Ophelia music video, while Jon Joffin — who was also nominated for two projects — crafted a stunning visual spectacle with simplicity in mind for False Prophet by Pillars of a Twisted City.

  • Jon Joffin, ASC, and Mitchell Baxter for False Prophet (Performed by Pillars of a Twisted City)
  • Rodrigo Prieto, ASC, AMC for The Fate of Ophelia (Performed by Taylor Swift)

Sony Cine spoke with Joffin in depth about his work on False Prophet, which he exclusively shot with the recently released VENICE Extension System Mini.
