Lawrence Sher ASC, Brings “The Bride!” To Life

Set to release in March 2026, The Bride! is an upcoming film written, produced, and directed by Academy Award-nominated actor turned multi-hyphenate creative Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Lost Daughter). Inspired by the 1935 film Bride of Frankenstein and the Mary Shelley novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus before it, The Bride! tells the tale of a lonely Frankenstein's Monster in 1930s Chicago who longs for a companion. 

Captured by DP Lawrence Sher, ASC (Joker, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, The Hangover), the film will be Sher's first project shot entirely on the Sony VENICE 2, with the Sony FX3 being used for select specialty shots.

Joining Gyllenhaal and Sher behind the camera is an award-winning creative team and cast, featuring production designer Karen Murphy (Elvis, A Star Is Born), editor Dylan Tichenor (Phantom Thread), composer Hildur Gudnadóttir (Tár), and costume designer Sandy Powell (The Irishman). The Bride! will star Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale as The Bride and Frankenstein's Monster, and will be joined by Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz.
